An environmental sensor is a sensor that detects environmental information such as temperature and humidity. With recent advances in sensing and network linkage technologies, the range of applications for those has expanded. They play a major role in improving the environment and reducing management costs at various sites such as factories, warehouses, sales floors, laboratories, and offices.
The RICOH EH Environment Sensor D201 and water- and dust-resistant model D202 are equipped with RICOH EH DSSC solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells developed by RICOH. It can be used in warehouses, sales floors, and other places that tend to be under low light thanks to high power generation performance even in low indoor light. Moreover, it can be used in a wide range of temperatures and wirelessly monitors temperature, humidity, ambient light, atmospheric pressure, and built-in lithium-ion battery voltage.

Solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells with high efficiency power generation enable use in places such as factories that tend to be under low light or near the walls of factories and warehouses.
Sensors can be used in temperatures from -30 °C to 60 °C. A wide range of temperatures are supported, such as in freezing/refrigeration facilities and indoor greenery facilities where temperatures tend to rise.
With a width of about 7 cm, the ultra-compact size enables installation anywhere. Environmental sensors can be installed in all sorts of location.
Sensing can be done for temperature, humidity, ambient light, atmospheric pressure, and built-in lithium-ion battery voltage. Catch the information you need to understand the environment.
Software for Windows® PCs and Android devices is available. Up to 90 sensors can be connected to one Windows® PC. 15 sensors can be connected to an Android device.
A water- and dust-resistant model "RICOH EH Environment Sensor D202" with IP44 level protection has been added. Installation can now be done in even more diverse environments.
Point 1 Reduced power consumption
Continuous operation is possible with one-third the illumination time (200 lx × 8 hours) of the previous model.
Point 2 Greater temperature range for use
The temperature range where usage is possible has been greatly expanded from 0°C to 50°C with the previous model to the current model’s -30°C to 60°C. Now usable in freezing and refrigeration facilities.
Improved communication quality
The data loss rate has been greatly improved over the previous model (when data is transmitted three times).

RICOH EH Environment Sensor D201/D202 can operate even in places where there is not enough light, such as near the walls of factories and warehouses.
It can be installed anywhere thanks to its ultra-compact size to measure temperature, humidity, ambient light, atmospheric pressure, and built-in lithium-ion battery voltage in a temperature range of -30°C to 60°C. No electrical construction, wiring, or battery replacement is required. It can be used in a variety of situations thanks to ability to monitor by linkage with Windows® computers and smartphones.
Temperature and humidity control in factories and warehouses
Temperature and humidity can be monitored to enable heat stroke alerts* and appropriate product management. It can also be used for air pressure control to prevent insect contamination.

Refrigerated and frozen food display shelves are monitored in sales areas where temperature changes are likely to occur. Temperature changes are automatically recorded to make management easier.
Temperature control of office spaces
Temperature, humidity, and ambient light of office spaces can be monitored to check whether the working environment is appropriate in terms of air conditioning equipment operating status and the like and to implement energy-saving measures.

In the default setting, it measures once every 300 seconds and sends the sensing data to a device.
Sensing interval can be set as desired from 5 to 600 seconds in the software provided for Android devices.
Sensing interval cannot be set in the software for Windows® PCs.
A sensor calibration function is not supported.
Install the relay within a range where Bluetooth® communication is possible as data transfer between sensors and the relay is done via Bluetooth®. The standard communication distance is approx. 30m or less, but the distance may be affected by the surrounding environment such as obstacles between the relay and sensors.
Software is only available for Android devices.

Measurement data is saved in a CSV format file, so it can be used with various software.

They are for indoor use only, so they cannot be used outdoors. Use sensors in environments with ambient light of less than 1500 lx.
They can operate under low light for approx. four days when the voltage display is 2.3 V.
If 2.4 V, they can operate for approx. 13 days. At fully charged (2.7 V), they can operate for a month or longer. (At sensing interval of 300 seconds)
